Putter

My name is Ken Flanigan. Along with being a putter designer; I am also a TPI Level 2 Fitness Performance Instructor for both adult and junior golf. I was trained and certified by the co-founders Dr. Greg Rose and Dave Phillips of Titleist Performance Institution. TPI Golf fitness programs are a large and increasing part of training on the Tour today. Many top PGA, LPGA and Championship Tour players have adopted a fitness program in their schedule because they are committed to developing flexibility, strength, and power to hit the ball with more distance and better accuracy, so they can compete and be at top of the leader board. My goal for the professional and amateur player is to make better players out of them though TPI fitness.

What is TPI? (Titleist Performance Institute)

TPI is a physical assessment for fitness performance to better improve your golf swing. By going through a TPI screening it will identify physical imbalances you have that cause you to do one or many of the 12 common faults in the golf swing (which are listed below). One of these faults can ruin the way we can truly perform on the golf course that no swing instructor can fix unless you have these limitations corrected and so we need to address and correct those limitations first. After this assessment is made we build your personal fitness program that focus on your limited target areas and this will improve your stability, mobility, flexibility, balance, posture, strength and power. Improved physical fitness levels will increase endurance, injury prevention, prevent/reduce or eliminate back pain and improve performance. (All TPI screening assessments are based on the average PGA Tour player). TPI is used on the PGA Tour, the LPGA Tour and the Championship Tour. 12 Common Faults (Percentages are Players that commonly have this fault)

Example: If you slice the ball, that tells me you are out of sequence, (which tells me you are you are doing one or multiple of the 12 common faults listed above). Let us just assume you do not separate the lower and upper part of your body properly, which is KEY for a well struck golf ball in the golf swing. If you cannot separate the lower and upper part of your body then stability is lost. Therefore, proper mobility will suffer and this means loss of power and accuracy with possible increase of injury (such as lower back). Through the TPI screening assessment, we will be able to pin point this limitation and correct it with some basic exercises and drills.
